When it comes to blogs, most of us will prefer wordpress blogs including me. The thing I like about wordpress blogs the most is the ability to use plugins to upgrade our blog as required. One of the wordpress plugin is the Akismet server plugin. Akismet server plugin is used to filter out unwanted spam comments to the posts. Obviously there are so many spammers who just post ‘xxsyojs’ or only their website address for backlinks, by using Akismet server plugin we can automatically filter out these spam comments.
Even though Ipage hosting completely support wordpress blog (Ipage hosting company also comes with standard blogging tools which we can set up through our account using installcentral tool from Ipage vdeck) Ipage hosting doesn’t support the Akismet server plugin since the connection to the Akismet server gets blocked by the Ipage server. When you use Akismet server plugin, the following error will occur.
“There was a problem connecting to the Akismet server. Please check your server configuration.”
“A network problem or firewall is blocking all connections from your web server to Akismet.com. Akismet cannot work correctly until this is fixed. Please contact your web host or firewall administrator and give them this information about Akismet and firewalls.

The Ipage hosting’s technical specialist’s says that the akismet plugin can not be used because it is trying to connect to external server and Ipage hosting doesn’t allow it due to security purpose.
With this we can conclude Ipage hosting’s security suite is the best of all.
